Forging Basic Knowledge – Introduction to Industrial Forged Parts
Forged parts are essential basic mechanical components in modern industrial production. Made from metal raw materials through forging, hammering and pressure forming processes, they are widely used in heavy industry, machinery, metallurgy, energy, hydraulic equipment and other fields, serving as core accessories to ensure stable equipment operation. Compared with ordinary castings and plate-processed parts, forged parts feature a denser structure and more stable performance due to unique forming characteristics.
In terms of process principles, forging reshapes the internal metal structure through external extrusion and hammering, forming continuous and dense metal fiber tissues. This process effectively eliminates internal defects such as pores, looseness and inclusions in raw materials. Forged products deliver higher density, better toughness and greater overall strength, solving common problems of ordinary parts such as easy fracture, deformation and insufficient bearing capacity, making them suitable for various heavy-duty industrial working conditions.

Industrial forged parts cover a wide range of types, including standard and non-custom forgings. Common categories include shaft forgings, flange forgings, gear forgings, cylinder forgings and special-shaped forgings to meet diverse equipment assembly requirements. According to processing methods, forgings can be divided into open die forging, closed die forging and precision forging, covering the production of small precision parts to large heavy-duty components.
Industrial forgings possess outstanding advantages such as high strength, wear resistance, impact resistance, high temperature and high pressure resistance, and excellent deformation resistance. They can adapt to long-term, high-intensity and non-stop industrial operation, with a far longer service life than ordinary machined parts. They effectively reduce equipment failure rates and enterprise replacement costs.
As fundamental core components of industrial equipment, the quality of forgings directly determines the stability and safety of mechanical operation. With the continuous upgrading of industrial manufacturing, high-quality and high-precision forged parts have become indispensable basic accessories for the production and upgrading of various heavy machinery and equipment.
