High strength cylindrical gear with helical tooth line
The tooth line of helical gear is wound along the cylinder, which is a kind of cylindrical gear. Classified by gear shaft, helical gear belongs to parallel shaft gear.
The helical gear can be regarded as the gear after the cross section of the spur gear is sliced transversely and then rearranged. The tooth line is spirally wound on the cylinder. According to different spiral directions, it can be divided into left-hand helical gear and right-hand helical gear. The helix angle of a pair of helical gears is the same, but the direction of rotation is opposite.
The characteristic of helical gear is that the tooth line is skewed relative to the gear shaft, which can obtain a greater meshing rate than spur gear. As the load state of the tooth surface changes smoothly, the power transmission during rotation is also relatively stable. Therefore, compared with spur gears, helical gears can achieve the purpose of low noise, low vibration, suitable for high-speed rotation and transmitting large power.
However, helical gears also have some disadvantages, such as axial force is easy to occur when using helical gears, and thrust bearings are required. Therefore, in order to eliminate the axial force, there are herringbone gears that combine the left-hand and right-hand helical gears and mesh with another left-right helical gear pair.
